USDA Loans FAQs Rural Area

Q: Are Rural Development Loans only available in rural areas?

A:While areas that qualify for USDA loans are typically defined as “Rural,” many smaller communities that lie just outside major metropolitan areas do qualify. Many times the population is limited to rural areas of 10,000 residents or less. However, under certain conditions, a town or city that has between 10,000 and 25,000 residents may qualify for a USDA loan.
